Visiting developing countries is never easy, though your tourist dollars do help the country it is often hard to see such poverty while the West experiences such opulence. We offer a tour that lets you experience Cambodia while giving something back. Below is a two week tour, but depending on how much time you want to give we’re happy to work with you and develop a volunteer program that suits you.
Day 1 Siem Reap - Arrival
Catch your flight to Siem Reap - .
You will be met by a Journeys Within representative and taken to Journeys Within Bed & Breakfast.

Day 2 Siem Reap - Angkor Wat
This morning head to Angkor Wat in an air conditioned car, or if you choose by bike, with your guide. Explore this majestic temple throughout the morning while it is still cool and has fewer tourists. Return to Journeys Within for lunch and a nap or refresh with a swim.
In the afternoon head to Angkor Thom, the famous walled city and see the many temples within its borders, including the fascinating Bayon temple with its many magnificent faces smiling out. There are several beautiful spots from which to watch the sunset. Discuss with your guide where you would like to be and then relax and enjoy a memorable end to your day at the temples.

Day 3 Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea
Enjoy breakfast at Journeys Within before leaving the crowds behind and heading to Beng Mealea, a temple only recently opened to the public; about one and a half hours drive from Journeys Within. After an hour you will leave the paved road and get onto a beaten track running through rice fields and villages of rural Cambodia. At the temple our guide will help you imagine how it once was as you pick your way through the rubble now surrounded by jungle.
Return to Siem Reap stopping at Banteay Srei, an intricately carved temple known as the Lady Temple. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near Banteay Srei returning to Journeys within.

Day 4 Siem Reap - Exploring on Your Own
Today you will have a car and driver so that you can return to the temples and explore them on your own and at your own speed. It is wonderful to have a guide initially but to return on your own allows you time to really absorb the atmosphere and find previously unexplored corners and pathways.

Day 5 Siem Reap - Rolous Group and Tonle Sap
Visit the Rolous Group, a group of Angkorean temples 15 minutes outside of Siem Reap in a beautiful area. After a rest or swim drive through rural Cambodia to the Tonle Sap Lake where you will take a boat ride to visit the floating village and a Cambodian fish farm.
As the day ends choose to climb Phnom Krom and see the ancient ruins high on the hill and watch the sun set over the lake and rice fields below or relax and watch the sun disappear below the horizon from your boat on the lake.

Day 6 - 12 Siem Reap - Volunteer Days
There are many areas where volunteers can become involved and benefit the people of Cambodia during their visit to this country. Depending on your skills and interests there is always a way you can help.
Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC) will facilitate a tailor-made, unique volunteering experience in which we match your skills and interests with our current needs. Accompanying our scholarship students during their community projects you will get an in-depth and first hand introduction to the work we do; you will then be involved in a project where your skills can best be put to use. While volunteering Journeys Within will provide breakfast and lunch as well as transport to and from your volunteer commitments.

Day 13 Siem Reap - Departure
Transfer to the airport in time to catch your flight - .
