Head off the tourist track to this fascinating and beautiful landlocked country. Start in Vientiane, the peaceful capital on the banks of the mighty Mekong. Visit Wats and Pagodas and see the traditional arts of Laos. Then travel back in time to the charming town of Luang Prabang. Surrounded by precipitous mountains at the junction of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers this World Heritage City is a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of Asia. A calmer, gentler city, Luang Prabang offers relaxing days visiting waterfalls, caves or enjoying a crepe at the local creperie.
You will also explore the stunning Laos landscape and visit remote hill tribes in a wonderful day of trekking. Your accommodation in each city will be uniquely Laos with beautiful decorations and wonderful service. This 7-day tour will leave you with a sense of peace and a true feeling that you have gone beyond the norm and discovered your own Southeast Asia.
Day 1 Vientiane - City Tour
Catch your flight - .
Arrive in Vientiane where you will be met at the airport by your guide and transferred to your hotel to check in. Afterwards hit the town and take a guided city tour including Haw Pha Kaeo, Wat Si Saket, Pha That Luang, and Patuxai. You may choose to be dropped off for lunch in center of town or return to the hotel. In the evening you will be picked up for a traditional dinner including a Lao music and dance performance.

Day 2 Vientiane - Museum and Market
Your guide will take you to visit the Khaisone Phomvihan Museum. Enjoy lunch at a restaurant of your choice before heading out to seem the traditional weaving village of Ban Nong Thong and the busy central market.

Day 3 Luang Prabang - Arrival
You will be transferred to Vientiane Airport in time for your onward
flight -
Upon arrival in Luang Prabang you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Have the afternoon at leisure exploring Luang Prabang and don't miss the night market.

Day 4 Luang Prabang - City Tour
Wake-up at sunrise to participate in giving the local monks morning alms. You’ll be accompanied by your guide who can demonstrate the proper method of alms giving and explain this daily Buddhist ceremony. Return to your hotel for breakfast, after which your guide will take you on a tour of the city including The National Museum, Wat Xieng Thong, and Wat Visun.

Day 5 Luang Prabang - Day on the Mekong
After breakfast, take a longtail boat crossing to the right bank of the Mekong to visit the pottery village of Ban Han. From here take a thirty minute walk to Wat Long Khoune village to see its local temple. Return to your boat which will stop by a rice wine distilling village on its way upriver. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and cross the river to visit the Pak Ou caves, famous for thousands of miniature statues of the Buddha. Return to Luang Prabang by longtail boat in the late afternoon.

Day 6 Luang Prabang - Elephant Riding and Trekking
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to Ban Noun Elephant Camp, which is on the lush bank of the Nam Khan about 15 km out of town. After crossing the river you will be introduced to the protected Asian elephants and take an hour and a half scenic ride on one.
Enjoy the view as you make your way through the tropical forest along the river. After your elephant ride, you’ll drive to a local Khmu village where you’ll start your trek. Hike for about 2 hours until you reach the Tad Sae waterfall, where you’ll have a picnic lunch and a refreshing swim. Take a ferry boat across the river to Ban An and transfer by van back to Luang Prabang. (The small rivers and pools may be dry February to June in which case you will take a different route).

Day 7 Luang Prabang - Departure
